You can add the goodness of turmeric for hair in multiple ways. Here are some easy and effective home remedies to use turmeric for hair. Turmeric can help to get rid of dandruff, thanks to its antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. The cost (often thousands of dollars) is prohibitive for most people. With new techniques, many women benefit from hair transplantation surgery.
Androgenic alopecia
Baldness (androgenic alopecia) is the most common type of hair loss. This is true for damaged hair follicles from too-tight hairstyles, damaged hair follicles from chemicals applied to the hair, and damages caused by certain autoimmune diseases. Female pattern baldness often results in thinning all over the scalp and might look like widening or thinning around the part.

But there are risks, including infection or shock that can cause hair to fall out of the transplanted areas. To use onion juice, blend a few onions and squeeze out the juice. Apply the juice to your scalp and hair, and leave it in for at least 15 minutes. Plikus compares a head covered with dormant follicles to a huge factory filled with 3D printers that are idling and ready to print, but are waiting for someone to push their start buttons.

The theory is that when hair follicles absorb laser light at a certain level, it stimulates hair to grow. But there’s not enough evidence that any of these devices restore hair or prevent balding. Most users see results after consistent use for about two months. If you often wear a hairstyle like braids or a tight bun that puts prolonged strain or stress on the hair follicle, that can cause a type of permanent hair loss called traction alopecia. To enhance your scalp massage, you can use lavender or peppermint essential oils.

Hair loss caused by stress or hormonal changes, like pregnancy or menopause, may not always require treatment, since this type of hair loss will typically stop on its own as your body adjusts. Still, a dermatologist or other healthcare professional can offer more guidance on strategies to help minimize hair loss in the meantime. The curcumin in turmeric can increase hair growth by stimulating hair follicle stem cells and promoting better blood circulation to the scalp.

When these flakes mix with the oil that’s produced by the scalp, they can clog your follicles and impair the hair’s nutrient supply, which ultimately weakens its structure. Incorporating gentle, hydrating products into your hair care routine can also help strengthen your strands and improve texture. By definition, a conditioner is meant for the lengths of your hair and not your scalp; in other words, it’s not going to do much in the way of growth. But what the right conditioner can do is help strengthen hair and make it look fuller, giving you instant gratification that other products can’t. According to Dr. Pierre, this is one of the very few supplements that has research backing up its claims.

However, taking a supplement with biotin may also help hair loss. For the best effect, doctors recommend taking biotin, vitamin C, zinc, and folic acid together. “Generally speaking, if the trigger goes away or whatever caused the injury to the hair follicle, then the hair will recover over a period of four to six months to a year,” says Dr. Bergfeld. Your doctor will also look at other areas on your body like your eyebrows, lashes, underarms, pubic area, legs and arms to assess if there’s hair loss. Losing your hair not only affects your appearance, but it can also cause emotional stress and affect your confidence. There are a few things you can do to help stop hair loss, though.
“It also has antimicrobial effects that can fight fungal infections that may impede hair growth. Moreover, turmeric contains vitamin C, which is crucial for collagen production and creating an environment conducive to hair growth,” says dermatologist Dr DM Mahajan. That said, there are a number of possible medications and treatments for hair loss caused by female-pattern baldness and other alopecias. Doctors often prescribe oral medications to be used along with topical minoxidil because studies show the combination boosts hair production. Low-dose oral minoxidil (prescribed off-label) has been found to be effective and safe for most patients, Mirmirani says.
A person may want to choose dietary supplements that have been vetted by a third-party company. Some research connects excess intake of vitamin A or selenium with an increased risks for hair loss. It is worth noting that this method is unlikely to benefit or help people with scarring alopecias. They may also order blood tests to check for any nutrient deficiencies or signs of an underlying condition. To use minoxidil, you apply it to the scalp as directed, usually once or twice a day.
For this reason, your dermatologist may include one of the following in your treatment plan. At-home treatments offer convenience, and you can buy many of them without a prescription. Because studies show that the following can help, your dermatologist may include one (or more) in your at-home treatment plan. A treatment plan for hair loss may include one or more of the following. Once your dermatologist finds the cause(s), your dermatologist will tell you whether treatment is recommended. Sometimes, your hair will regrow on its own, making treatment unnecessary.
A hair follicle is a tube-like skin pore that encloses the shaft and root of the hair. Most healthy adults have around 80,000–120,000 hairs on their scalps. Early treatment of a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia) might help avoid significant permanent baldness.
It is also commonly known as one of the primary spices in curries. TE is typically reversible and often resolves 6–8 months after your body readjusts or the trigger is gone. Mayo Clinic works with hundreds of insurance companies and is an in-network provider for millions of people. It may be caused by illnesses, medicine, or low levels of iron or vitamin D. Hair loss, or alopecia, affects more than 80 percent of men and 50 percent of women, and the risk increases with age.
Treatments for Alopecia Areata
Low-level laser light therapy (LLLT), also known as red light therapy, is a treatment for skin issues that uses low-wavelength red light to stimulate cell growth. A small 2016 study of nine healthy men found that a daily 4-minute scalp massage stimulated hair growth. According to a 2019 review of studies, minoxidil, applied topically, is the go-to treatment for androgenetic alopecia in both men and women. Minoxidil is the active ingredient in Rogaine, which is available over the counter (OTC). The underlying cause of hair loss affects what treatments will be most effective. Options include supplements, medicated ointments, and lifestyle changes.

Trans women and trans men who have used HRT may have additional risk factors for hair loss that are not covered here. According to Agbai, genetics, hormonal shifts, stress, underlying medical conditions, nutritional deficiencies, and scalp inflammation are notable factors. You most likely get plenty of it in your diet in egg yolks, yeast, liver, and other foods. That’s good news because too little biotin can cause hair loss. Does that mean that taking mega-doses of it will give you more hair?
What are the best treatments for alopecia?

Your doctor will ask about your health, your medications and your family history. The goal of red light therapy is to stimulate healing in the body. However, more studies are needed to confirm whether red light therapy is effective for hair loss.
This usually isn't noticeable because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair doesn't replace the hair that has fallen out. In the type of patchy hair loss known as alopecia areata, hair loss occurs suddenly and usually starts with one or more circular bald patches that may overlap. A dermatologist can assess a person’s hair and advise on whether a person’s hair can regrow. They may then recommend and perform treatments such as corticosteroid injections and PRP therapy.

These products are usually topical and come in forms like a cream, lotion or shampoo. You can prevent hair loss caused by chemical hair treatments by not using them. You might be able to prevent some hair loss by eating nutritious foods that provide necessary nutrients (like vitamins, minerals and protein) or adding vitamins to your daily routine. In addition, a healthcare provider might recommend forms of light therapy like using the HairMax Lasercomb®. Another FDA-approved laser product is the Theradome LH80 PRO® helmet and low-light laser helmets and caps.

A more affordable pick, Dr. Pierre says this has research behind it to show it works; credit a combo of biotin, iron, and horsetail extract. Not only can it help promote hair regrowth, but it also strengthens the hair you do have, always a good thing in our book. You only need to take two tablets daily, though bear in mind that it may take anywhere from three to six months to see results. However, the follicloids do not undergo growth cycles in the same way as normal hair.
Prescription oral medications
You can either purchase over-the-counter laser devices to use at home or receive the treatments from a provider. Another survey of men experiencing hair loss supported these results. More than 65% of those who tried daily scalp massage reported hair regrowth or at least a slowing down or halting of hair loss. Hair loss is common and research is still ongoing to learn more about how to resolve the condition. Certain types of hair loss can be managed when you and your provider determine a treatment plan that’s right for your situation. There are a lot of different hair loss treatment options available over the counter (OTC) or by prescription that you can apply to your hair at home.
Speak with a doctor about medications or procedures if these natural methods don’t work for you. Coconut oil contains fatty acids, called lauric acid, that penetrate inside the hair shaft and reduce protein loss from hair. Massaging the scalp with hair oils and masks stimulates the scalp and may improve hair thickness. Dermatologist Wilma Bergfeld, MD, talks about ways to stop hair loss, what may cause it and whether it can be reversed. Minoxidil may irritate your scalp and cause dryness, scaling, itching and/or redness.
Using shampoo or scalp treatments that contain antioxidants may decrease hair loss and improve the health of the scalp. The key to treating hair loss is to find out what’s causing it. Here’s how a dermatologist determines the cause and what treatment may involve.
As hair can fall out for a number of reasons, there is no individual best treatment. Depending on the cause, a doctor may recommend medication, dietary changes, applying certain products to the scalp or hair, and protecting the hair. Whether hair growth can return depends on the cause of the hair loss. A dermatologist can determine whether a person’s hair may regrow on its own.
The AAD states that wearing tight hairstyles such as ponytails, buns, or cornrows can damage hair and recommends loose hairstyles that do not pull on the hair. Rosemary oil applied to the scalp may be as effective as minoxidil, according to a 2015 randomized controlled trial. Anyone considering taking a multivitamin supplement should talk to a doctor first.
The medication stimulates hair growth by quieting part of the immune system. In June 2022, the FDA approved the first treatment for a type of hair loss in which the immune system attacks hair follicles, known as alopecia areata. Activation of androgen receptors in dermal papilla cells shortens the growth phase (anagen) of hair follicles.
It’s another expensive treatment that isn’t generally covered by insurance, but it tends to be a long-lasting solution. The most common cause of alopecia is an inherited condition called male- or female-pattern hair loss. Here, dermatologists share what you need to know about alopecia, including possible causes, treatment options and what you can do to prevent more hair loss. The authors of a 2020 review suggest that rosemary oil may help stimulate new hair growth and prevent hair loss. Stretching during the massage could encourage hair growth and thickness in the dermal papilla cells, which are located at the bottom of the hair follicle. These cells play a key role in the regeneration and growth cycle of hair.
Exfoliation isn’t just for your face or body, it’s also an important step for your scalp. When you exfoliate your scalp, you're essentially eliminating build-up (either in the form of product residue or dead skin cells), which can clog the follicles from which new hair grows. We like this option because it uses a combo of different alpha-hydroxy acids (aka AHAs)—glycolic, citric, lactic, and tartaric—to dissolve all of the above without irritating. And unlike so many other scalp scrubs out there, it comes in a squeeze bottle instead of a jar, thus preventing a mess. In clinical trials, the drug was better than placebo at promoting hair regrowth in people with severe alopecia areata.
Continue to do this for about four weeks, three times a week to get the desired results. Here’s how to use it – Take two overripe bananas, mash them thoroughly with the help of a fork and combine two tablespoons each of honey, yogurt and olive oil with the mashed bananas. The best way to use rollers is to apply them to wet hair. When it comes to finding the right rollers, it’s all about the texture of your hair and the look you’re going for. If you sweat a lot because of frequent exercise or because you live in a hot part of the country, for example, you might want to wash your hair more often. Eventually, I got fed up with the pressure to keep my hair straight. I wanted to learn how to love and embrace the hair I was born with. So in 2019, I decided to ditch the hot tools and transition to wearing my hair natural full time.
"Professional or salon-grade tools are always the best." Without being able to control how hot your iron is, you won't be able to adjust the heat according to your hair's specific needs. Once your hair is dry and it's been coated in a small amount of serum, apply a heat protectant to each section of hair before you flat iron it. "Use a heat protectant to seal the cuticle and form a protective barrier around each strand," says Powell. Whether you prefer serums, sprays or creams, it’s important not to skip this step as it prepares your hair for the heat and prevents future damage or frizz.
Trying to straighten your hair naturally using the wide-toothed comb method works best for those who have thinner hair. The beauty industry is full of chemical treatments and products that aren’t good for you or for the environment. If you want a mane that is sleek and glossy, but don’t want to use store-bought products, you’re in luck. We’ve gathered together a handful of natural remedies to make your hair naturally straighter, though results may vary based on your hair type and texture.
The key to any hairstyle is starting with a good shampoo and conditioner. If you're going for a smooth, straight look, celebrity hairstylist and Cantu partner Angela Stevens recommends a Keratin-based wash routine. "Keratin smoothing shampoos and conditioners gradually help keep the hair straighter longer and don't have any harsh chemicals in them," Stevens tells us. Among her favorites are the Keratin Complex line, and It's a 10 Miracle Shampoo With Keratin ($25).
Wash off the pack with a mild shampoo, following it up with a conditioner. Anywho, I started straightening my hair around the 5th month of my pregnancy last year. When I realized that I could get at least 4 weeks out of straightened hair (sometimes 6), it was a no brainer given my increasing ungainliness and fatigue. When I had Wyntr in January, it again made sense as taking care of a newborn is two full-time jobs and I needed to give up my part-time (i.e. my hair on wash day).
Now that we have our coils cleansed and conditioned, is it possible to straighten natural hair with zero heat? "Ultra-fine hair is the only texture that can straighten easily with indirect heat," Stevens advises. With Alicia Bailey, Global Education Manager at Design Essentials, adding that it "is virtually impossible to achieve straight hair [on 4 type hair] without some form of heat." You can rinse your hair with cold water in the shower, as it tends to get rid of frizziness and straighten it somewhat.
It’s worth using a wide-tooth comb and not a round brush – otherwise, you’ll end up with a bit of a curl. By removing the heat, you don’t have to worry about damaging your hair. Just note that it will typically take a bit longer to blow dry on cold. Most of us who have wavy or curly hair keep figuring out how to acquire smooth straight hair. Straight hair is versatile, controllable, and lends itself to various hairstyles. The difficulty is that we can not achieve this without putting our hair through harsh chemical treatments, going to the salon for a blow-dry, or straightening it with a straightener every day.

The Free People beauty blog recommends making a milk and honey mask. Mix 1 cup of whole milk or coconut milk with 1 tbsp of honey and let it soak into your hair and scalp for one hour before washing out. After washing your hair, let it air dry completely, but continue to brush it every five minutes. Pull out and hold each section of hair for a few seconds to encourage it to straighten out. You can also do this in front of a fan, which is faster, but requires constant brushing. For other hair textures, it’ll be more challenging to achieve the look of straight hair without sacrificing your hair’s health.

"Your best bet for non-heat hair straightening is with Velcro or silicon rollers using a process called wet-setting," Jordan says. After you wash your hair, towel it as dry as possible, and then apply a medium-hold mousse.
Straightening Hair Naturally: Blow Dry on Cold
Your crown area may be the curliest section, which would require higher heat, but the hair on the sides of your head may be straighter, so turn the heat down when pressing that section. When purchasing a flatiron, look for one with customizable settings. You want to keep your iron at the lowest setting required to straighten your hair (most irons go up to 450 degrees, but reaching for at least 360 degrees is beneficial). Whatever look you choose, just make sure you're tracking the health of your hair and understanding what works best to avoid damage in the long run.
But, if you’re willing to embrace hair with a slight curl or a little bounce, you might have more options. Consider incorporating some of the tips below into your own straight-hair solution. Keep trying different combinations of the tricks we’ve listed until you achieve a look you love. Both these natural ingredients are nourishing for the hair. The coconut milk helps to smoothen frizzy locks by conditioning the hair, while the lime juice is said to help make it straight. To use, massage the shampoo onto wet hair, suds up, and rinse with lukewarm water.

These types of rollers may take some practice, but some people with medium-to-longer length hair swear by them. Hair wrapping is one of the more popular ways to get straight hair without heat styling, but not everyone knows how to do it effectively. Luckily there are tons of hair wrapping tutorials on YouTube geared toward almost every hair type. Since you’ve put your hot tools on ice, you can naturally straighten your hair whenever your please. While some of these techniques can be a bit time consuming, it’s definitely a better alternative for your hair if you want to sport strand strands frequently. By now, you’re likely familiar with the trend of wrapping your hair, but you may not be as knowledgeable about the art of wet-wrapping.
Use A Straightening Product Non-heat formulations like serums, creams, and sprays can also help straighten hair. Now you're ready to add some luster to your newly ironed locks. "Lastly, after styling, it is always a great idea to finish everything off with a lightweight oil for some extra shine," says Powell. "Hask's Keratin Smoothing Shine Hair Oil ($2) is great because it’s strengthening and reduces frizz." Water not only cleans and moisturizes your hair, but it allows other hair products to work more effectively.

"I recommend It's a 10's Coily Hair Mask ($40) after washing your hair and Miracle Leave-in ($25) before brushing it out," says Aronson. While there is a lack of scientific evidence, anecdotal reports suggest that using rice water for natural hair straightening may boost hair growth and support the growth of strong, straight hair. You can use coconut oil or olive oil in combination with aloe vera or eggs to help give your hair a healthier and straightened appearance. We have already mentioned how to use olive oil for natural hair straightening in the article above. Rice flour is one of the best natural ingredients for hair straightening. "Excessive layers will only cause fine hair to look thinner, so resist the urge to get 'choppy layers for movement,'" notes Townsend. "By keeping all the weight at the bottom, your locks will appear thicker and fuller in an instant." Add ombré color to get Jessica Alba's California beach vibes. To unlock this potential on your own, keep reading for tips and a step-by-step guide on how to safely straighten curly hair, straight from hair experts Brendnetta Ashley and Carolyn Aronson. There’s a time and a place for a messy bun, but right now I’m kiiinda obsessed with this tight, sleek low bun.
You can deep-condition your hair with a DIY hair mask to give it a shinier and straighter appearance. Hair masks that are meant to restore protein to hair could make curly hair appear more relaxed. Try a hair mask that uses raw egg, manuka honey, or avocado for a deep-conditioning effect. You can also use warmed coconut oil or almond oil as hot-oil treatments to infuse and strengthen curly hair. There are shampoos, conditioners, leave-in conditioning products, hairsprays, and just about everything else you can think of that are aimed at calming and relaxing your hair.
Also, you can mix in six drops each of rosemary oil and sandalwood oil. Massage the mixture into the hair and scalp, allowing it to penetrate through your hair strands. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave it on for about one to two hours.
Now reapply this paste and then run a comb through the hair. This is one of the most effective packs to tame overly frizzy hair. The chemical structure of the naturally occurring oil in the body is similar to olive oil. Olive oil contains hydroxytyrosol and vitamin E, both of which are helpful in nourishing the hair. Eggs contain vitamins and minerals, along with fatty acids, which is very good for your hair and makes it straight.
And if you decide to put your hair up in any way during that week of straighter strands, be sure to use crease-free accessories, like Teleties, that won't put a dent in your efforts. You'll also want to have a straightening brush on hand. With good tension, a straightening brush will help ensure that heat is being distributed to every strand in your subsections. Aronson points out that some directive nozzles have combs attached to them already, and those may also work great for curly hair types in place of using a separate brush. Also, the "comb or brush chase" method works wonders in helping to straighten (particularly natural hair) with just one pass.

The French bangs can be adjusted to suit all face shapes and customized to be shorter or longer. The Pamela Anderson-inspired blowout is a glamorous, voluminous hairstyle modeled on the 90s’ chic trends. This specific blowout features big, bouncy curls and substantial hair volume. I recommend a round brush and velvet rollers to achieve this look and maintain the style all day. Ask your stylist about a long curtain bang for increased volume. It helps to add volume, especially when you add layers and a face-framing shape.

Just make sure to aim everything toward (not away from) your face for this '70s-inspired effect. Add some dimension to your fringe and face-framing layers by going for an ombré color. "A blonde ombré color is a great way to add depth and dimension without worrying about root regrowth," Kimble shares. "Eva Mendes is giving a dramatic look with volume and her pageant-ready curls," Michael says.
Bangs with Face-Framing Layers
Her creativity and eyes for fashion are what make her stand out the most. With her talent, she provides service that will beautifully translate what her clients want into actual art. Coloring your hair this way will save you from having to go back to the hairdresser often and look very natural. Here is a style that only has about three layers, but they really are done in a big chop, so three is all you need to make a statement.
Mid-Length Hair with Layers and Bangs
Such long layered hair with bangs also maintains your normal length for the rest of the haircut. You’ll love the simple and chic choice of a face-framing straight shag with bangs. Using a large round brush, the choppy layers and shorter angles can easily remove excess hair around the face. Ensure your hair stylist retains volume at the lower section of the hair to prevent your hairstyle from looking too thin overall.
"This is a chic wet look with elevated bangs," Valles says of Kat Graham's grunge-inspired haircut. Use a mousse to define curls, plus gel to give your style that wet effect. "This half-up, half-down style is the perfect flirty hairstyle to take your natural hair up a notch," Kimble says. Regardless of your hair type, this style looks great with face-framing layers. With a blunt cut and lengthy layers, Emily Ratajkowski's glam look is serving. Beyoncé's '70s-inspired blowout is full of long layers and loose waves.

4 Haircuts That Stylists Say Can Make You ‘Look Older’ Over 40—And What To Try Instead.
"The butterfly haircut has a '70s flair, with shorter layers on top blended into a series of longer layers to deliver movement and texture," Valles says. Drew Barrymore's undone waves boast a middle part and lots of texture. "This look can be created by separating random sections and using a 1.5-inch curling iron to create soft waves," Michael explains. "A heart-shaped fro is achieved by cutting your curls to mimic the shape of a heart," Kimble explains. "The top stays voluminous, while the bottom layers are strategically [placed] and slightly tapered at the nape of the neck." Gigi Hadid's long, layered blonde style was created using extensions and a barrel curling iron, and we're loving the bouncy movement and dark roots.
A long tousled bob with short layers helps bring out a natural wave pattern. Add a chunky bang to a medium-length hairstyle to create optimum volume and softness in the shape. A layered wolf cut with bangs is a toned-down version of a mullet. Try a medium-layered hairstyle like a wolf cut if you want the feel of a mullet without the commitment.
#6: Layered Long Haircut with Blowout
Routine haircuts and standard maintenance keep this hairstyle flawless. Pairing pigtails with face-framing layers makes the perfect E-girl hairstyle. This style looks especially great with curtain bangs to complement the pigtails. Use TRESemmé Ultra Fine Hair Spray to protect your hair from flyaways.
This style looks especially gorgeous with highlights to help add contrast and add dimension. To make them stand out, use a curling iron to add a few loose waves. Face framing layers replicate this shape, except at a longer length. This type of layered look is often jaw-length or longer and can usually be tucked behind the ear. The layers seamlessly blend into your look and are the better pick, if you don’t want to commit to a shorter fringe.
Often, people ask for curtain bangs when they really mean face-framing layers; then they’re left with shorter fringe than expected — a definite bummer. Face-framing highlights for balayage hair add extra brightness while keeping that easy, beautiful grow-out that balayage coloring provides. Add invisible long layers for thick hair to ensure your light, and bouncy style maintains its length. A haircut that has choppy layers with a center part is a must on super-long hair. Choppy layers for long hair frame the face and add movement to the style. Center parts without blended layering are very harsh and can often hide your face.
To create a sliding haircut, talk to your stylist about a shag. It’s best to set the bangs with wide-set rollers to achieve a retro style. Razored layers in thin hair can help boost the volume of fine hair types. You’ll need to be sure your stylist is familiar and comfortable with razor cutting to maintain the density. Shoulder-length hair with face-framing bangs can help enhance the illusion of fuller hair.
Here she has layered highlights that make her face look thin and beautiful. Be sure to keep your bangs long and styled curled out to get the whole vibe of this photo. Up next is this side-swept look with long layers that frame the face beautifully. Here she has a few blonde highlights throughout, and the ends of her hair are curled perfectly.
Also, the layered hair is easy to maintain and will match any outfit. Sweeping fringe, as well as some layers at the front, soften facial features and make them look smaller. Hence, this element of the hairstyle is a great way to take attention away from a bigger nose. Face-framing layers have duly earned the fame of equally flattering, feminine and versatile hairstyle elements. Shorter or longer, softer or more defined, face-framing pieces can be tailored to highlight the best features of virtually every face shape. Wavy face-framing pieces for square faces are a soft, subtle change that can be done on various hair types.
Complete your glow-up with a warm auburn hair color and coppery highlights. Go for thick cropped side bangs that are just long enough to cover a large forehead without creating a suffocated look. Point-cut layering focuses on creating more texture at the ends allowing the strands to blend more seamlessly. But these very tresses can appear lifeless and boring if not styled properly. Letting go of your hair length is not necessarily the only option left. Keep your blonde highlights looking vibrant with this purple shampoo.
If your square face shape seems too sharp, ask your stylist to incorporate these small but impactful layers. A shoulder-length haircut would be the best fit for these types of layers. Adding front layers on a medium-length cut can provide a soft and flattering effect. They draw attention to the cheekbones and jawline while eliminating any harsh lines.
In other terms, it's the piece of hair right at the frame of your face that catches the sunlight and lightens in the summertime. Some angling around the face paired with a sun-kissed balayage is the ultimate hair envy. “This is to determine if the style is realistic for you to recreate at home,” Casso states.

Zen rooms pair fresh white walls and light wood floors with dark brown furniture and accents, plus floral accent walls behind the beds. Finally, Urban rooms offer white walls with black furniture and graffiti-inspired art.

The location right on Rossio Square is hard to beat, making this a popular choice among tourists. Rooms at this fun and funky design hotel overlooking the Rossio are themed by design and by scent---take your pick from Urban, Tribal, Zen, and Pop. All of the rooms have unique designs with playful, modern artworks, and some have private terraces with views of the bustling square and the shopping street of Rua Augusta. There's a modern space for business meetings in the hotel's well-lit loft space, and the trendy restaurant, Bastardo, is a hit with local foodies thanks to its contemporary mix of Portuguese and international flavors. Guest rooms are divided into four different styles -- Zen, Urban, Pop, Tribe -- all with distinct decor and vibes, but outfitted with the same modern amenities.
Mini Bar (with liquor)
But rooms, especially entry-level rooms, are tiny. The hotel lacks wellness facilities and a proper lounge, but it has a solid restaurant with a wine and cocktail bar, plus a nice breakfast buffet. Features aside, what really sets this property apart is its splashy decor and central location.
Amenities
It's impossible to miss the Internacional Design Hotel -- it's situated in a four-story building dating back to the 1920s, which now sports a bright lavender facade. The exterior reflects the hotel's quirky spirit, which is executed inside with tasteful yet eclectic flair. The reception area makes a splashy first impression thanks to a sequiny pendant light, a pair of armchairs in a black-and-white geometric print, and a front desk covered in jade-colored tiles. Hallways and stairwells get a similar design treatment with bold accent walls, geometric wallpaper, and spunky art, while rooms are divided into different design categories that feature Zen, Urban, Pop, and Tribe-themed decor. There are a few loungy areas, too, like a nook at the back with a slouchy couch and bright ottomans.
